A tip for dealing with those grounds.......
When you have boiled the coffee long enough to suit your taste, turn the
heat down low enough to keep the pot warm, but under no circumstances let
it boil again. When the boiling has stopped.....simply throw a handful
of ICE (a cup of cold water will do if no ice is available) and by some
reaction that I cant scientifically explain, all the grounds will settle
to the bottom and stay there unless you pour too vigerously during the
As to the yucky sludge at the bottom of the pot, careful inspection of
your cup BEFORE drinking will help prevent that awful taste that comes
from drinking the primordial ooze that the last few cups of cowboy coffee
One other alternative is possible.....make TEXAS COWBOY COFFEE.
This is done by putting a picnh of the grounds between the cheek and gum
(like dipping snuff)..and then drinking boiling water. Not advised for
tender Yankees. :]
