Water Purifiers(more on)

I've recieved some comments about my posting regarding iodine
treatments as an alternative to more expensive filters and purifiers.
Let me say this. Of course it would be better to both filter and
chemically treat water before drinking. But, I (this is refering to my
own experience and does not ensure everyone's will be the same)
have used chemical treatment w/out filtering for an extended period
of time and I(again refering to my own experience) have had
success. And I have taught and exercised the proper use of this
method in a professional capacity for the Boy Scouts of America.
Whatever you choose, be smart and follow the manufacturers
directions. Good camping and good scouting.
PS - In regards to the use of PolarPure iodine. In accordance with
current BSA practices at Philmont Scout Ranch:
- Leave the iodine in for one hour regardless of the conditions.
- And if the water is extremely turbid or cold it's recommended to
double the strength of the iodine.
It works for 20,000+ participants a year.
Again, good luck im your choice!
