Sounds to me, my opinion only, that the boys got gipped on some
important matters. Yes, they may have been passed off on the
requirements, but what did they actually learn?
Advancement, activity pins, belt loops, etc., are recognition items
bestowed through the program to recognize the development of new
knowledge and skills.
If these were instead written off as to be awarded on a basis of did
the boys remember something just long enough to spew it back, without
retention of new knowledge or skills, it strikes me as more of a pin
factory than a meaningful experience for them.
It's not my place to say what your pack should do.
If it were my son, I would want to talk to him and
determine what he actually learned. And if it was nil, or next to
nil, I'd suggest to him the pin would mean more to him if the skills
were first well developed so he could rely on the skills or the
knowledge again in the future.
Again, this is the opinion of only moi. Others may see things
