Someone (I have lost who) answered:
Allow me to expand. The Nutmeg District of the Connecticut Yankee Council
just (Sunday 10/25) completed the fall camporee, chaired by yours truly. A
more detailed report here, and to Scouts New England, will follow in a day
or so (after I have recovered).
I took this info, which I had originally located via http://macscouter.com,
and modified it for local use. I have Word 5.1 files for Mac and Word 6.0
files on what I did which I am willing to share. The patch was designed by
one of our local leaders and I have that as an EPS file (at work).
It was a success! THE BOYS LOVED IT! (yes I am shouting!) It took me a
couple of meetings to convince the District Committee to do it. Some of the
leaders were still nervous, but it worked. "My camporee" was further
complicated by a location change the Monday before the Friday beginning.
[There were mosquitons with Eastern Equine Encephalitis found in the town
next to the camp. All activities have been cancelled there until after the
killing frost....not yet that close to shore. More details later.] We had
almost 200 boys. There were an additional 75+ leaders. No one was lost. All
Email me for more details, but please be patient, I am not in the office
again til Wednesday (2-day training session).
Thanks, and Ron, good luck. The "usscouts" web site is available on disk
from Scouter's Journal, and is worth more than the price.
