Might I suggest this solution that I have seen happen a few times... after
the pledge, your color guard captain says "Color Guard Post the colors"
then while everyone is still saluting, they post the colors, step back and
join in the salute. Then the Color Guard says "Two" and all salutes are
I have to agree that those carrying the flags themselves are not to
salute. They have their hands full as is. If the adults persist at your
next meeting telling them that they should salute, a brief word about
how color guards do not salute as they are carrying the flag is in order.
