Semaphore and Morse code

Just thought of the perfect way to get Scouts to learn these codes. Teach
it to the other adult leaders & use it to talk to each other (especially
jokes, private comments, etc.). I guarantee you that the kids will learn it
so fast they'll fall over themselves ;-)
Actually, there are two techniques to successful teaching:
1-- Make it interesting/fun
2-- Address the "what's in it for me?" factor.
As for why learn a skill that't not used in the real world anymore; I say
why not. It can be fun and why does everything need a practical purpose.
And some of us would say that just stretching the mind & learning something
new & different is purpose enough.
