Summer camp signoffs...

on the blue card...)
When the card is taken to a counselor
he has no clue as to who looked at those 8 requirements and the Scout
sometimes had to redo his work for the new counselor. Can the Scoutmaster
sign at that point when the last requirement is completed?
No, s/he can't, unless s/he is a registered counselor for the badge in your
council, in which case s/he can if s/he is comfortable with it.
If the local MB counselor asks the Scoout to demonstrate mastery of the
material, that is within his/her purview and right, if his/her name is gonna
be on the card at the end. Besides, if it's just from this past summer, the
kid shouldn't have forgotten it all that quickly!
Seriously, let the kids know that MB's mean mastery of a subject, not just
time-spent-in-class-at-camp, and they should be able to expplain what they
learned to the local counselor and get that last rq done for a final
signature. Make them proud of their camp experience by showing them how well
they cvan do this. And if they can't, well, what does that tell you <G>?
