DO baking/no impact

A question... with the minimal impact camping we are supposed to be doing, how
can you have the baked dutch oven dishes, when we are no longer supposed to be
digging up the earth?
Two solutions we use: If you are going to have a longterm camp out and have
"car camping' access to carry lotsa stuff, you can use an old gutted steel
refrigerator door filled with sand on sawhorses for a nice, counter-top height
cook area. If not, well, I went to the dump and salvaged a coupla nice old
metal ashcan lids--- sweep up the pine needles and duff down to sand, lay down
lid, use as fire pit. Cools rapidly at the end, too... pick up, bag cold ashes
to pack out, replace duff, leave. No trace.
