The Tiger program can be a great boost for a pack in terms of both boys
(membership) and future leaders.
The "Firebird, FarWest" patch segment program has found its way all over
the country as many Packs supplement the Paw and Bead programs with extras
that the boys can earn and then be recognized at Pack meetings.
It is difficult to argue for a "follow the National program" when your
Council runs a Tiger round up in April-May each year targeted at
Kindergarten boys. That is clearly against the National program and research
on the Tiger program, As you correctly state it is a 9 mo. program, just
like the cut out calendars at Philmont Tiger training clearly stated. Some
folks, however want more numbers rather than more program. When Councils and
Districts don't follow National it is sure hard on the "one hour a week"
volunteers to know what to do..
