First, don't get hung up on labels -- it's not the form of the report
that's important, but rather the substance.
Our Troop has a long-standing treasurer, who reports monthly to the
committee, and who is audited by another committee member on an annual
basis. Each month, she reports the beginning balance, the monthly income
and expense items, broken down by category and/or item as appropriate.
She also reports on subcategories -- equipment fund, Scout accounts,
etc. -- and ends with the closing balance. Simple, clean and easily
