As a commissioner and ASM of a very large troop...I have a lot of dealing
with visiting dens. I love to get a phone call from a leader who
says...My boys want to visit your troop........With all that goes into
running a troop...sometimes the leaders just plain forget to invite dens
to visit. Whats the worst that can happen when you call and say when
would be a good time for my den to visit??? If they dont want you to
visit..its best to know that up front and I would so advise the Webelos
and let them decide if they think a troop that doesnt want them around
should be considered when they bridge up.
We always advise visiting dens to visit several troops......we would LOVE
to have every Webelos in town join us...but we realize that some boys
need different troop, wheter because of size, location, different
interests,etc. The more troops your boys visit, the more likely they are
to join one that meets their expectations, and the more likely they are
to stay in scouting...which is the important thing here.
I would advise you to call ALL the troops around you and visit as many as
