Regarding Webelos recruitment by troops - I have a related question, so I
hope you dont mind if I jump in and ask.
I have a den of Webelos I's (13 to be exact).
We have not been invited anywhere, by anyone. Camperall is in 2 weeks. In
our district, it is a bi-annual event, meaning if I dont take them this
year, they dont go till they are
I talked to a roundtable leader last week and she said we'd be welcome with
her troop, which is in 'the big city' 15-20 miles from us. Its a well-run,
boy-run troop from what I hear.
Meanwhile, my hometown troop has not said anything to me (Im the CM too, so
I would expect to hear 1 way or the other) about Camperall. I had to ask
the roundtable staff what a Camperall was in the first place<g>, so Im
flying blind here.
I dont want to make the hometown troop's SM feel <whatever> by calling and
saying (in one nice way or another) 'hey, why havent you invited us
camping, to Camperall, etc?', but at the same time, my boys deserve to
visit troops like anyone else and Id expect that the most-local troop would
at least want to recruit SOME of this group. As it is now, the ones who
stay would likely follow me and my son - and not because we actively
"recruited" them to whatever troop my son chooses.
What is SOP for these situations?
