The Heart of America Council used Winnebago tents, for their '97 Jamboree
contingent. To say we were disappointed in the quality would be an
understatement. Zippers popped open, Clips broke, webbing frayed, and
despite generous seam sealing, the flys leaked. The thinking on the part of
the '97 committee was that the cost per tent, aprox $79 was much better than
the cost of an Eureka Timberline $139, which the council used in '93. What
happened, however, was that in '93 the tents were sold to troops in the
council, thus reducing the cost. In '97 the SM' s and ASM's who went
discouraged anybody they knew from purchasing these leftovers. One SM even
went out and purchased Timberlines for his troop out of pocket.
My opinion only, your mileage may vary.
