Scouts-L Mail Archive for October of 1998: Life-to-Eagle

I need to address the collective again and receive some of the knowledge that
exists out there. I have a Life scout who recently transferred into our troop
who is working toward his Eagle. He is very rambunctious at times (more so than
others) and has been disrespectful at times (a couple of times). He will turn
18 in Nov. and hasn't started his project yet (he is currently identifying one).
He had dropped out of scouts for about a year prior to tranferring here due to
having heart surgery. That's the background info, now the crux of the matter.
He recently was suspended from school for being disrespectful (as far as I know,
but that doesn't sound like a maximum-suspension-before-being-expelled offense)
to a teacher. I am having a hard time considering signing-off on his "scout
spirit" requirement. Should I try and get the details of the offense from the
teacher (who might tell me it is none of my business), or refuse to sign the
requirement based on the fact he was suspended, or what?
Any advice would be appreciated.
