Our school district has a policy of allowing students to miss a certain
number of days per year for an "educational trip". Parents must request
permission in advance from the school, describing the trip and the
educational value to the student. My son's troop used this policy when they
went to the USNA Camporee. It isn't very hard to justify a trip to the
Naval Academy as having educational value.
