I disagree that this is not an issue for this forum. Compensation of
executives is a national issue. Several major non-profits have been
embarrassed and otherwise hurt by the issue.
I don't know if he is overpaid or underpaid. At the executive level
compensation is driven by performance. We are all involved in fundraising
for Boy Scouts in some fashion. If we are asked about the issue. We
should be in a position to say" Yes, the pay is high, but look at all the
things he has done." Areas of relevant performance include: cost cutting,
fund raising, improvements in program, increases in membership.
BSA has traditionally done a lousy job of communicating to the volunteers.
We should know what are the goals and objectives for BSA this year. What
was the performance last quarter, last year, etc. toward those goals.
