Merit Badge Midway

I solicit the experience and wisdom of the list on conducting a merit
badge midway. This will be a one-day, mid-winter district-level
event with some possibilities for outdoor work (weather depending).
What kinds of things work (and don't)? Any suggestions as to
which badges might go better in such a setting than others? Is it
preferable to offer the Scouts some exposure to a wide variety of
areas they might not otherwise encounter or to concentrate on
completing a few core Eagle-required badges (which some
summer camps do)? Obviously the availability of qualified
instructors will be a major factor but what ought to be the aim?
