Let me get this straight. The head of an organization that is
world-wide (when one considers the councils outside the US that serve
our youth abroad), that is under constant attack by various groups of
people who have agendas to pursue, that coordinates the activities of
not only thousands of paid staff but millions (exact numbers I'm not
sure) of volunteers and the actual youth that are served, oversees
assets that must equate to millions of dollars, gets paid $400,000 give
or take a few buck - and people are complaining?
Those who are complaining obviously are not familiar with executive
salaries these days. And the fact that BSA is non-profit is most
definately considered here. In order for BSA to keep it's non-profit
status, the salaries of its top paid executives must reflect an
organization whose purpose is to serve, not to make money. If not For
that reason, Mr. Ratcliffe's salary would more than likely be 10 times
higher, and include stock options if available.
$400,000 a year - I think we're getting a good deal.
