That is correct. LOVE of money....and a sincere thank you for knowing the
proper version. :)
Are we going to question whether the CEO of BSA is there due mainly to love
of money? I personally feel not qualified to judge that of him. I have a
Masters Degree and I am anything but loving of money, as one can attest by
knowing me some and, one, what I do do with my earnings and two, what
material possessions I want compared with the American Standard of Living.
With the exception of a CD player for my stereo system I've got all I
desire. Yet, I do not intend to take a Masters degree required type
position for minimum wage. You get what you pay for. If you want, in the
American culture and way of life, a top of the line qualified executive,
don't expect it to be someone who's willing to do it for $20,000 -- whether
or not he does it for love of the boys or love of money.
I don't know the man. I've never worked with him. I've never even so much
as met him. I don't even have a sense of his reputation (not that that ever
is accurate) so I'm not prepared to say that he's a greedy money-loving
individual. For all I know, he would have taken the office for half his
salary. Perhaps he didn't even negotiate for it. Maybe he told, "this is
what we're paying."
Oh, and if you think all the Prez of the U.S. gets is $200,000 per year,
well, that's his salary, but all the things that comes to him through the
office certainly put him in a much more lucrative situation than that.
Personally, I get more upset at athletic persons' salaries. All they do is
play games. Come to think of it, that goes for the Prez of the U.S. I
The way it works, is that someone thought he was worth the money. Whether
those who made that judgment were correct in their assessment or not is hard
to discuss without things like, oh, say, information. Since I am not
privileged to the facts of the matter, I defer to those who are.
