John Economides asked if anyone would like to see the executive salaries
of CEOs for not-for-profits. I, for one, would like to - along with the
AP reference site.
Several years ago the Nation was aghast at the pay of the head of the
United Way, as well as some of the other abuses. It is noteworthy the
this Nation's CEO, irrespective of what one might think about the
incumbent at any given time, is paid only $200,000.
We non-professional BSA volunteers are always told that it's "for the
boys". DEs are not paid very much for 60 hour weeks. There is an
apparent great disparity in the salary structure, so at the higher
levels it may not be "for the boys" but "for the bucks".
I do know this: BSA's contingent to the World Jamboree is running about
$4,000 per - nearly twice the price that a dumb travel agent could
arrange transportation for, even with the $650 Jambo fee. Last time BSA
top staff had 80+ freebees. The boys in effect are seeing monies which
could go for program enhancement go to other compensation, lawsuits,
Yes, it would be interesting to open up the books.
