This idea came up in disscussion with one of my ASMs yesterday & I'd like to
bounce it off this group.
We are trying to encourage the wearing of Scout t-shirts on campouts, etc.
And before anyone jumps on me, yes we also wear the regular tan uniform
shirt. But for some activities you want to wear a t-shirt instead. And we
mostly see shirts from sports teams, nike, etc. (no South Park yet, thank
Anyway, when someone joins they get a Troop t-shirt but a lot of the guys
don't have any other Scout shirts.
Finally, the idea (at last). The Troop would give a camp t-shirt to any
Scout who is registered for summer camp by a certain date. Or we could give
them a discount on them--perhaps they pay $5 and the Troop pays the remainder.
The advantages would be that each Scout would have an additional Scout
t-shirt they could wear on campouts, etc. We might also get them to commit
to summer camp earlier (although camp attendance hasn't really been a
problem). The disadvantage would be an additional drain on the Troop
treasury, but I think we can handle it.
