I love Robert Losee's idea of a Gamemaster.
I, too, have exercised some flexibility in troop leadership positions.
Having 42 active boys sometimes leaves a boy needing a position for rank
advancement. This year a boy presented the idea of a Spirit-man. His
role is to rally the patrols to their patrol yells and work with the new
scout patrol(s) with theirs. He also maintains the songbooks. Now, if
only he weren't so quiet (and a touch lazy).
My solution to how to give this guy a patch was to name him Instructor
in charge of troop spirit.
Any other thoughts on creative leadership positions?
