"Especially"? I'm sorry, but I can't buy that. I ran a den for 5 years
and expect we met in my home no more than 5 times total over those 5
years. I spoke with the Principal of the local elementary school (where
over half of the boys went to school) and made arrangements to have use
of a room there every Wednesday night from 7-8 pm. Our pack had many
dens which co-op'ed, meaning each family hosted the den at their home
for a month each year. In some dens, the host family would even be in
charge of program for the month, leaving the den leader with the
"simple" responsibilities of providing continuity and the administrative
tasks of advancement sign-offs.
Honestly, looking for simple, workable solutions barely requires any more
time than offering up the standard excuses -- and provides a MUCH BETTER
example for the boys!
