Welcome back to the Order.
Since an Arrowman's first duty is to his unit, and as SM your duty is large,
your main thing will be to encourage your youth Arrowmen to be active - both
in the Troop & in Lodge activities. If you can impress on them that a Lodge
flap is a sign of membership, not an award, and that by wearing it they are
proclaiming themselves to be available for Cheerful Service, you will be doing
your part. I was an active Arrowman as a youth, but found when I was SM I
didn't have time for many Order-specific activities, beyond talking them up &
sometimes driving. However, I took over a Troop with a decades-long habit of
sewing on a flap and forgetting about it, and we had last year's Lodge Chief &
this year's Vice-Chief.
