I might be able to help you out on these questions. First, the answer
is no, GSUSA does not have any comparable course to wood badge.
In general GSUSA training is different because they do not work off
of centrally prepared syllabi. National issues some standards, but
the local councils must write their own training materials. That
has several interesting ramifications. For one thing, adult leaders
get a different cours int he basics, outdoor skills, etc. from
Council to Council.
Your second question. The answer is that it is up to your course
director for Wood Badge. When I took Wood Badge there was, in fact,
a Girl Scout leader in the course. I actuallly knew her pretty well,
because she and I were both Girl Scout leader trainers as well. She
came to every weekend in full Girl Scout leader uniform (which
in her case was a dress and she never missed a beat -- even when
we did the pioneering projects). My understanding was that she
contacted the course director and made arrangements.
The Training Director for the Girl Scout Council I work with is also
interested in taking the course, and may do so next spring.
Hope that helps....
