I've missed most of the UUA thread but this was in yesterday's digest:
>I am suspending any further input on the UUA discussion until such time as
>those claiming to hold a more tolerant view of spiritual life become more
>tolerant of other's views. Evidently, the some of us are all for being
>tolerant of other groups, unless they don't agree with the core values of
>those other groups. Also, evidently, some of us go to great pains to see
>persecution and discrimination where none exists.
My biggest issue about the discussion of tolerance is that those people who
preach tolerance only mean tolerance for the most liberal views. Baptists,
Catholics, Orthodox Jews, Mormons, etc.[I'm talking about those who truly
follow their faith not those who are conveniently Baptist, Catholic, Jewish,
Mormon, etc. because it's convenient or looks good] are viewed as terribly
intolerant or at the very least "quaint" or "cute" or "out of it" when we
stand up for or defend what we believe.
