My name is Herldine Radley and I live in Royse City, Texas. Country
living at its best! I wrote to the list recently about a low Tiger Cubs
re-enlistment. Thanks for all the wonderful advice. I had 9 children
sign-up for Wolf. Only three from Tigers returned.
We have an active month.... making rain noise makers to go with the
Jungle book story, next week we have a detective coming (finding
fingerprints and a treasure hunt), last week of September we have a Pack
meeting. I am hoping that this will bring in even more children. Cub
Scouts is a wonderful program that needs to be spread around. I will be
taking pictures and putting them in the small town paper.
I have a very limited but well rounded background for scouting.
Limited... only went to church camp two years. Well rounded... lived
on a small farm/ranch for 14 years, worked with animals, worked in
daycares for 3 years, trained in early childhood education, taught
children in church for 15 years. And the most important part.... boys
seem to like my teaching style of more activity during the lesson rather
than after the lesson.
Has anyone made the tube rain makers? I have used mailing tubes with
sandpaper rolled on the inside and the boys will put the dried lentils
inside, cover with woodgrain contact paper. Is there a better way?
