Though I don't do them, being an ASM, from learned Scouters I learned 2
1. If the conference is happening before, during, or after a meeting and
hence there's a lot of activity, set up the chairs such that the boy faces
away from the activity.
2. One Eagle BOR member asks a question I think I'd ask every scout: "What
good turn did you do today?" He says some Eagles actually respond with
things like, "I took the trash out for Mom..." The bor member: "Wrong!!!!!
That's a duty not a good turn." The point is, by asking this, the boys sees
it's a seriously taken expectation and he learns to do greater turns over
time. At 12, it might be a "good turn" to cover his younger brother's
chores as well as his own. At 17, I'd hope for greater things. :)
