Bob, you didn't indicate the results of your conversation with the
trainer... Your approach to budgeting appears quite reasonable.
$10-12/per in TOTAL costs for a Tiger cub appear entirely UNreasonable.
However, different packs handle finances differently...
Some will look for parents to handle registration/Boys Life as a separate
payment from pack expenses. Separate this out and YOUR budget includes
about the same $10-12 in other pack expenses.
Some units are heavily into fund raisers and charge the scouts relatively
I am curious how you end up charging Tigers and Scouts the same $35? We
find the cost for the cubs to be notably higher than for Tigers (due to
all the patches, pins, etc that Tigers don't get). Historically we've
charged $25 for Tigers, $45 for new Cubs (including Tiger graduates) and
$40 for returning Cubs. It will be higher this year. We do some
internal fund raising, but not a lot. The additional $5 for new Cubs
covers the Council strip, den # patch, and pack #'s which we provide.
