Our boys choose which summer camp they will attend.
We have a number of Scouts who would like to attend Catalina, with the cost in
the $300.00 range the committee was asked if they could work with a camp
cost in that range - they said yes - the SPL/Green Bar then know what kind
(SPL gives a Scout report at the beginning of each committee meeting, then
departs) of limits (if limits are called for) they need to work with.
The SPL will then present a list of 4-5 camps to the Troop. Supporters of
each of the options will present their sales pitch and the Scouts will vote.
System seem to work well, sales pitches may involve impassioned speeches,
slide shows, ect.
