Just a quick question:
Can a Wood Badge staff decide to force everyone to all wear long pants?
At the 30-day precourse meeting of a local course, participants were told
that they could use either long-sleeve or short-sleeve shirts, any kind of
Scout belt (web or leather), but they must wear long pants. Socks could be
Scout or non-Scout.
They also said that any kind of older uniforms were permitted -- but not
older uniform shorts. The typical directives on removal of 'unnecessary
insignia' and no neckerchiefs, bolos, nametags, or hats were included; and
note was made that patches, nametags, neckerchiefs, and hats will be issued
at the start of the course. However, no shorts will be permitted. The staff
refused to reconsider, based upon feedback from the troop, and refused to
answer any questions on the subject or put it to a vote.
Can they do this? Why would they want to do this?
