While Jim Peterson correctly points out that there is a Fishing MB, and a
requirement to clean and cook a fish is part of this requirement, the
Chicken Slaughtering MB seems to have escaped my attention.
I'm also not positive, but the last time I checked there was no
requirement to slaughter a chicken lin the Tenderfoot, 2C or 1C
Nor is there a requirement to slaughter a chicken in Wilderness Survival
MB, nor in any other MB that I'm aware of.
I remind this list that we are not producing SEALs, or Army Rangers, or
Force Recon-trained Marines here. While I learned how to kill a chicken
during infantry training many years ago, I do not think this is
appropriate activity for scouts.
Be prepared? I was under the impression that we were trying to teach our
scouts to know how to keep out of situations that mightr require them to
know how to kill a chicken to feed themselves in the first place.
Bottom line--I cannot imagine a situation our boys could be iln under any
reasonably possible scenario that would require them to know how to
slaughter a chicken. I must say, I'm sort of surprised that this is even
a subject of debatye on this list--but hey, it's a large nation, I guess.
