Someone asked about info for a summer trek to Europe. I can think of
nothing more awesome than scouting's international version of Philmont in
the Swiss Alps. The camp is called Kandersteg International Scout Centre.
Open all year, the scout centre is home to more than 1500 scouts from all
over the world during the peak summer months. They consider it a 'permanent
World Jamboree' in the Alps.
The high alpine scouting 'resort' is surrounded by some of the world's
greatest scenery. And given that most scouts have a tight budget,
especially after shelling out $500 to $750 for the plane fair to Europe, the
centre is CHEAP! Camping fees are only a few dollars per scout per night.

Aside from the room and board, Kandersteg offers guided programs such as
hiking, mnt biking, summer skiing on a glacier, paragliding, ice climbing,
spelunking, etc. You name it - and its all fairly inexpensive.

I used to live in Switzerland and was an ASM for the Embassy troop. Feel
