This summer I worked in the nature area as well as a in a new program
that combined scout craft with C.O.P.E. at Thana-Keeta Summer camp.
We were told in our training that if any adult wanted to watch one of
our classes, they WOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO SO. They should tell us 1 day
in advance. I agree that the scout staff member had no right to say
this. However, I can guess why he might have said this. Often times, as
I saw this summer, adults that know the material well have been known to
"take over the class" saying that the scout "doesn't know the material."
I am sure that you would not do this but this may be his excuse.
Scoutmasters at Thana-Keeta are told that if they have any problems to
talk to the Camp Commissioner or the Assistant Camp Director.
