Just got back from a week in Northern NY adirondacks regions.
Ran into a scout group (claimed to be) wearing green barrets
and full camo pants, and black t-shirts. Leaders and older scouts
carring large sheaf and/or surival knifes, strapped to legs.
I thought it was a rambo movie being filmed. I was with my family
and my wife would not let me even go talk to the leader to find out
what council they were from - the black T-shirts read troop XXX BSA
And may a town, in dark grey on the black - kinda had to read - but
fit the swat team look of the group.
On the brighter side:
WOW! My knees are still HOT from all the time on the water.
We passed a BSA camp on Long Lake - camp Cedarlands, but I did not
catch a council name. Maybe a spot for a future summer camp trip.
Does anyone have info on camp cedarlnads - on Long Lake in NY?
Also found out that you can ride the Olypic Bob Sled runs in summer
on a wheeled bob sled - up to 60 MPH.
Also found out that an EASY trail to Castle Rock - means crossing
waste deep running water, and a final climb that I would have liked
to have climbing gear to complete - almost 3 hours for a 1.6 mile
RT "easy" trail.
