I would like to recommend a book I just finished. It was recommended
to me by a Scouter and I would like to pass along the favor. If you
are a leader, a manager. a supervisor, or want to be one,
"On My Honor, I Will: Leading With Integrity In Changing Times"
by Randy Pennington and Marc Bockmon is definitely one book you should read.
It is very easy reading and full of very good guidance. President
Gerald Ford called it "A blueprint on how leaders became successful
following the path of honor and integrity."
The book outlines, step by step, how you and your organization can
respond to ethical problems in every day life and in business.
>From the book:
"As we drove back to the airport, we began to wonder about Horton's
disparaging remark that Johnson was a "real Boy Scout." The implication
was that anyone who valued integrity more than money was somewhat
defective in judgment.....The more we thought about those of questionable
honor referring to those of unquestionable honor as "real Boy Scouts," the more
convinced we became that believing and enacting the Boy Scout Oath and Law
could favorably impact America and American business.
That's our opinion. You decide for yourself. If, after you've read t
his book, you conclude the authors are "Boy Scouts"-we will
consider that a true compliment."
