Other historic trails around the DC area are the Manassas Battlefield
trail, and the ANtietam historic trail. The latter is billed as a
10-miler, but in fact is at least 13 if it's an inch. A good 1-day hike
for older scouts, but over 2 days for younger ones. The treail guide and
patches are available at the gift shop.
You might check out Gettysburg. There are three historic trails
there--Billy Yank, Johnny Reb, and the Eisenhower trail. The Billy Yank
and AJOhnny Reb trails combine to about 20 miles.
