You said a mouth full. Over the years My son has been friends with a
"problem" ADD scout
Hunter used the medication for years and gradually set him self a goal of
No easy task as you know. Hunter loves knives and usually has on on his
person 24/7/365 he reacts quickly and at times violently yet I have never
seen him threaten any one with a knife. That does not say that there
were not those
who thought that he had threatened them. Hunter had to go before the
Eagle BOR twice , as they turned him down the first time, They recomended
that he change units and try again. Eventually the Second BOR was
convened in a special session, When one of the members ask why, and found
out that the Canadiate was Hunter He was surprised the He had not already
passed Months before. He Like many of the Boys in Huinter's troop looked
at him as the SCOUT, the way a scout should be, and a shining example of
the Law, oath, slogan and Motto (except for ocassional lapses).
I am Proud to say that he has always shown me respect, as that is
something that any adult must earn from this boy. There was a fight one
night and after I had seperated the two boys all that I needed do was
stand between them. Unfortunatley other adults boxed me in and Hunter
went around, but that was only because he had not had enough time to cool
off. Fifteen minutes later he came in to talk to the other boy, he had
himself in control, but the then scoutmaster grabbed him in a head lock,
picked him up off of the ground and carried himn out of the room.
Effective at the next meeting I was the new scoutmaster for 6 months.
All in all Hunter is one of the best scouts that I have Known, He not
only had to overcome the normal obsticales, he also had to couquer
himself , and what can be even harder what others believed of him.
In short If they want it enough to work for it you will be hard pressed
to find a better scout, If they are ther because Mom makes them you can
not find a worse scout.
