I've worn them now for about a year, and use them as "liner" socks under
the thich hiking sock. Works well. I've never tried to put them on or
take them off inside the tent. I usually do it sitting in my chair. On
Backpacking trips, I sit on a log or stone. The socks seem to last about a
year, before I no longer think they have their "off the shelf" strength. I
tell my patients to wear them just often enough to keep the edema down,
though with an embolism, you might be justified in wearing them every day
for a while. How long is between you and your Doc.
I use the white ones for hiking, saves all the questions.
