The sun causes damages that will eventually kill us all. Scouting is
attempting to train youth for the world. Keeping them in a bubble does not
protect them, it probably/possibly does more damage to a youth. When would
you rather learn about the harsh realities of life: Gradually over 21 years
or all a once at age 21.
Singing is part of the school curriculum in most school districts. Standing
up in front of a crowd is listed as the number one biggest fear most people
have. Get over it now. Learn to sing and learn to speak in front of
people. Why put off overcoming fears. Deal with them, learn from them and
possible profit from them.
The long term effects of having a Scout sing to recover a lost object maybe
a job as a public speaker, preacher or attorney.
In my case 2 out of 3 aren't bad. (OK so the attorney thing is marginal.)
