Sounds like a pretty insecure guy, plus maybe he's feeling guilty about
not being there all week for this Troop.
It's easy to forget--I do it myself, at times--that Scouting is meant to
be fun. B-P called it a "jolly game". If the Scouts don't have a good
time, they'll stop being Scouts pretty quick.
If the kids from the other troop are unhappy and looking to quit, better
they come to your troop than leave the program entirely. I think you've
done your duty by encouraging them to go back to their troop and try to
work it out. What happens next is up to the boys and their parents.
