I am the Assistant Cub Master for Cub Sout Pack 11, Covered Bridge
district, Atlanta area council. I actually live, work, and scout in
Smyrna, Georgia - just outside of I-285 in Cobb county.
I feel like I know some of you already after following interesting
threads in the archives for the past week. Stumbling across Scouts-L
has been a blessing for me - not only is this a group of people who hace
faced the same souting problems I am now facing and are willing to
commiserate and offer suggestions, but they have taken the time to write
I am very interested in parental involvement, delivering a quality
program, and scouter burnout. Why? Because, starting in September of
'97, I have coached my son's soccer team, helped my daughter's soccer
coach, led my son's den, and started serving as ACM. Just to let you
know where I am coming from - I've been using the archives to understand
what is going on and what can be done.
I love to use poverbs and quotes to remind me what is important. I have
been using the following quote this year, but I'm not quite happy with
it - it starts out good but ends a little too negatively. Anyway, let me
know if someone else came up with it first or if there is a better way
to sum up the idea.
"If you aren't having as much fun as your scout, you're doing it wrong."
