Linda, I was in this same predicament last week on a campout. Went to a
local hardware store and bought a 10-foot length of 1/2" electrical
conduit (the people there were kind enough to saw it to the desired
length) and a 10" spike (looks like a BIG nail; the head needs to be
bigger than the grommet hole). Here's what I did: put the spike through
the grommetted hole in the tent where the bent tent pole used to go and
into either end of the conduit. Works great.
