Will Rogers Scout Reservation near Cleveland, Oklahoma, will be celebrating
it's 60th Anniversary next summer (1999). In addition to units from the
Will Rogers Council, we normally have a unit or two from Texas, a unit or
two from Arkansas and several from other Oklahoma Councils. If your unit
is interested in a different destination for next summer, I'd like to take
this opportunity to invite you to help us celebrate the 60th anniversary of
our camp. (Our council is celebrating it's 50th anniversary this year and
the camp was one of the benefits of the merger!)
The present schedule calls for three weeks of camp: June 13-19, June
20-26, and July 4-10. A fourth week (July 11-17) is possible. The SE says
if we get 60 units in our 60th year, we'll run six weeks of camp.
Camp is dining hall based and can accommodate about 12 units per week.
Other facilities include swimming pool, boat pond, COPE course, rifle
range, archery range, nature shelter, craft lodge, trading post. One
campsite is handicap accessible. We offer a full range of outdoor merit
badges with a few extras thrown in when counselors are available. Troops
supply their own tents and unit gear. Fees this year were $120/scout with
$10 discount for payment in full by May 15.
If you'd like to be part of our celebration, please let me know to place
you on our mailing list. Kickoff and campsite selection is scheduled for
November 5 (attendance is not required at this meeting but that's when the
summer camp program details are released).
