This Sunday, our troop will hold it's annual Leader's Retreat. This has
been a good event for us. It allows us to take a long look at the troop,
identify successes and failures, reassign leaders and have some fellowship.
We follow this up with a retreat for the PLC which we combine with our
annual planning session.
At the Leader's Retreat, we put issues on the agenda that need to be
addressed and I'd like to ask for comments from this august body regarding
some issues I intend to raise at the retreat. I've always felt grateful
for the fact that I'm able to glean comments on pertinent issues from you
folks and proudly display or post your comments at my roundtables and unit
meetings. Nothin' like the voice of experience....
If any of you have comments on the following topics, please email them to
me personally. PLEASE keep your comments to about 3-5 sentences as I plan
to both duplicate them and discuss them at the meeting and if the responses
get lengthy, they tend to get glossed over.....I'm sure you understand what
Thanks to all of you who respond.
TOPIC 1: Venture Crew programs in the troop. How do your's run? What
about just sending the boys off to a Venturing unit instead? Should scouts
register with a Venturing Unit before they finish their advancement work?
TOPIC 2: What are the most critical adult leader positions in your units?
Why? If you only had six active adults, what positions would they hold?
(We have 25 active leaders, but I thought this would tug at your brain)
TOPIC 3. What are the best two methods (tricks?) you've employed to
encourage boy leadership in your troop?
TOPIC 4: Describe the most successful TROOP RUN event you've held. No
summer camps, no district or council events.....an outing or activity that
was generated from within your unit.
Okay, I'll stop there. Again, thanks to all of you who respond. Need the
response by Friday if possible.
BLUE SKIES!, Any day above ground is a good day!
