I and many long term Scouts-Lrs remember one =
of your personal life difficulties. It takes =
awhile to adjust to that kind of a life =
change and re-adjust personal emotions and
then accommodate new difficulties with grace.
As for negative Off-Line Responders.
New people come to Scouts-L from 10 to
82+ from across the US as well as the =
World. They are across all genders,
occupations, and life's passages from =
boy to g-grandma.
Being first timers or newbies, as AZ-Chuck,
NY-Dave, MD-CherylS and GA-RevM also were
once upon a life, they may not have had the
chance and opportunity YET to have their =
attitudes adjusted by the GREAT continual
contributors to Scouts-L. TX-JonE, and
KY-MikeW have written that this attitudinal
adjustment is one of the great things about
Scouts-Lrs. Self Policing they call it using
scouting principles i.e. the SO and SL.
If these newbies decide to stay they learn =
new styles from the likes of our Black Eagle,
NeilL, VA-MikeB, CO-Jan, CO/MA-Jon, NY-JohnC,
on an on through CA, MN, KS, WA, VA, NH, MI
almost every state and then UK-Ian, Scotland,
MI/Isle of Man, etc.
If they wish to move on they can always join
one of the Internet's unmoderated newsgroups
to more freely express emotions and attitudes
in a writing style that is far beyond or =
is that far beneath the SO and SL.
Our benefactor TCU's JonE gives GREAT
advice to newbies in his Usage Guidelines
message YET some newbies do not spend the =
time to save this file or read it once and
As for us longer term Scouts-Lrs
The best advice is to either:
1>Delete a Poor Response
2>Use it as an Opportunity to Improve
another Scouts-Lr and assist them in
becoming a Valuable Co-Contributor
(It is sometimes emotionally Hard or
(time consuming to do this #2 item so
(the DELETE key is OK. We are but Human.
3>File it temporarily
And then Delete or Respond
I see EVERYTHING right about you sharing
this with your fellow Scouts-Lrs. God things
are part of the SO and part of our obligation
as leaders to facilitate.
For our Newbies
BSA puts out a little booklet called =
"A Scout is Reverent" S-961 is on the =
back. It is one of the many sources used
to assist troops in participating on =
Scout Sunday in February each year.
For AZ-Chuck's flamers or objectors please
get a copy from your Council or a Scout =
Shop and see that what BSA has published =
is in the same style that AZ-Chuck posted.
Anyway Good Luck on Joining the List and =
adjusting attitudes and communication styles. =
Most of us stayers have gone through it.
And Good Luck and God Speed to you AZ-ChuckB.
YiS, IMHO, and may we each attempt to live the SO,SL,SS,SM
