We have consistently had a parent/sibling race. This is a free for all, and
lets the dads race their own cars. My son has been lucky enough to win some
of the races he has participated in over the years. So, naturally he
expects to keep winning. The last year he participated, he won nothing.
Mostly because mom is not nearly as a good a helper as dad (who was in
Korea) is. After the initial disappointment, he got over it. He got into
the spirit of the race and cheered on his den mates. And, he was very
excited to watch his brother win the free for all with one of his old cars.
Yes, the built to standards within regulations car beat all comers on the
free for all race. Proving that bigger, heavier, etc. doesn't always win
the race. We didn't try to explain away his loss, he lost that happens. He
had a good time anyways.
