takes to fund patches and ribbons for district camporees. A $10 fee per
event would seem to make it even more difficult to penetrate inner city
Del-Mi District is clearly the best district in Council by every
measure. We rely heavily on a senior core of volunteers at the district
level. In the past we were always given a senior DE. Our latest is a
very energetic new college grad. We volunteers just figured that since
our district does things differently from the rest of the council anyway
(hence our superior performance) that the council figured it was easier
for us to train someone new in the Del-Mi way rather than try to
re-train an experienced DE.
We still grumble about some of the dumb bean-counting type
decisions. However, our council is strong and volunteer runned. Our
professionals are great and work with us very well. Hard to argue
with the success of an 11.8% growth in membership last year!
