In respose to scouts taking chairs to summer camp. Our Troop has always
encouraged our kids to bring camp chairs or stool to all of our campouts,
especially summer camp. The scouts take the stools or chairs with them when
they go to merit badge class, so they don't have to always set on the ground.
This seems to make for a little happier scout at summer camp. Our P.L.C. has
set the rule, "if you did not bring it then leave it alone." We do not have a
problem with the kids fighting over the stools. They respect other scouts
We do not encourage the big lawn chairs, but the camp stools or camp
chairs that can be purchased at Wal-Mart or Target. This helps conserve space
in our Troop trailer.
Secondly, the adults do bring chairs, and we can not expect the kids not
to do something if the adults are doing it, as "do as I say, not as I do."
