I've been in and out of town for the last two weeks and will be in and out
of town for the next two weeks (I'm supposed to be going to Virginia Beach,
VA for a week....anyone here from around there?? Please let me know
privately....I've been to a lot of places in the Great Southeast, but
Virginia Beach hasn't been one of them!!)
I just wanted to let everyone know that I've been updating some of the
content on _The_Tree _(my personal site, with links to other sites and
pages) and welcome the feedback as well as ideas for additional content.
I'm still adding stuff to the site, to include the "weather rock" and a link
to our local TV station and their "color doppler radar" that they are proud of.
I've removed some stuff too.
Finally, I wanted to brag a little on myself by letting all of you know that
the annual Keith A. Ware military journalism awards came out recently and
one of the publications that I have responsibility for won third place in
it's category in the Army-wide competition. While third place isn't first
place, it beat out 29 other Army field publications, and was only behind two
Army field publications (the Talon, which is a field magazine and produced
with a $200K annual budget in color; and the American Endevior, which was
likewise produced in full color using a budget of $72K last year and a staff
of fourteen) using a two-man staff, two laptops, a "shareware software
program (Geoworks' Ensemble which is now called NewDeal Office), internet
access (to download news and weather information) and a borrowed digital
camera...none of which were "Army issue" items.
I share the award with the enlisted guy that worked alongside me, Staff
Sergeant Cameron Porter, who's on active duty in Germany. He's really proud
of his first national award (and should be.....he really did a LOT of GREAT
work with this publication!!!)
I get the award mailed to my home this week; the actual presentation of the
plaque will be later this summer because my Reserve unit doesn't "drill" in
the summer months.
Either I or Jessi will be downloading my email daily and she'll be
forwarding to me via my AOL account (good thing that thing can be done
pretty well everywhere!! *smiling*) personal email and "stuff that I might
be interested in" (she already said that she's not going to be forwarding
EVERYTHING to the AOL account)!!!!
